Flower Petals The Fallen Flower
I chose to take photos of a flower. My family has lots of flowers in the springtime, and I decided to photograph one of the flowers in our vase. I was trying out different angles, and wasn’t happy with the outcomes until I laid it down on the table, and realized that it’s the photo I wanted. I decided to put the flower in a mezzotint because I liked all the small dots in the photo. For the other flower picture I zoomed in on the petals, and how they were overlapping each other. I used some basic editing to make the picture pop.
Orange Rimmed Tipped Pot
In these photos I was looking at the idea of the shadows in the vase. I liked how you could see the outer rim shine, and how it appears bigger then it actually is. I didn't edit the first one because I liked it how it was, so I just did a simple small tweaks to attract the eye to the rim. In the second one I used a pixelation feature called half-tone. Half-tone changed the image to make it seem lighter, and as if it were a piece of fabric. In this image I was also looking at the shadows inside of the pot, I also angled it so that it looked like it was tipped over.
8th Night of Hanukkah Candle light
I took photos of a Menorah because I am Jewish. On the last night of Hanukkah, you place all the candles in the menorah, and light it at sunset. In the first photo I liked how the shammash (the white candle) was basically glowing compared to the others. Later in the day I took a photo of it when I lit the candles. I liked how the flames came out in the photo and used the pixelation filter called mosaic, so that it helped point out the flames.
Succulent Leaf Leaning Tower of Succulent
I went over and photographed two different succulents from different angles. In the first image, I got my camera almost fully underneath the plant so that it looked like it was bigger, and then the lens would focus on one part of it. By doing this I liked how the base/stem of the plant was so bright, so when editing I tried to highlight that part a little more. In the second photo, I liked how the succulent was leaning towards the sun, and the color change from pink and purple went to green. I used a pixelation filter called pointilize so that the image would come out with tiny dots.
The Bridge Between F Holes The Scroll
For my final photos, I decided to take it of my violin because I have played for over three years. In the first photo I zoomed in on the bridge. If there wasn't the bridge, the strings wouldn't make their sound. I liked my photo how it was, but when I found the black and white filter, it brought the whole image together. In the second photo I took, I chose the scroll. I love how the scroll rolls up at the top and how fancy it looks. I used the crystalize feature, which is one way to pixelize an image. I chose crystalize because I liked how it changed the photo to look as if it were a painting.
